I want you to watch the end of this run. Watch him. See how he protects himself? He starts to run, shoulder turns a bit. Vedral has rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown on 45 carries this season. He has thrown for 1, yards with eight TD passes and eight interceptions for Rutgers, which is The near-comment on Vedral offended viewers. I think he barely caught himself from saying something that would have ended his broadcasting career. So Matt Millen came this close to saying Vedral runs like a girl.
He stopped himself, but it was pretty clear his intention and as a woman, I find it pretty offensive BigTenNetwork. Matt Millen stopped half an inch from calling Vedral soft. Millen has had a rough day in the booth. Is there a more ridiculous sight, than watching the post-game analysis of a Monday Night game when Matt Millen appears on your television screen? How does this guy have the credentials to be a qualified NFL analyst?
It is insulting to my intelligence to see a guy who demonstrated an inability to evaluate NFL-caliber talent properly in his tenure as the Lions' general manager to be on TV giving opinions on football. This guy managed to piss off an entire state with his piss poor management, calling his own team's players "fags" and described one as a "devout coward".
He ruined a franchise, that is just now getting their feet back on ground and had more good draft picks in last year's draft than Millen did in his seven year tenure. To be an analyst you should probably be able to exhibit some kind of prowess in your profession. It's also funny to see a network like ESPN bring a guy on that got so much attention on their telecasts for his horrific personnel decisions.
I wonder if Millen realizes he's working with a bunch of people that are on record as saying he did an awful job as a general manager and were calling for his head years before he actually got canned.
Current crop of analysts is quite horrible, hopefully they get some new faces next year. His failing at a GM job made him lose credibility in the booth? Guess what? They went back to their coaching or whatever they did before, and excelled again.
Tell us again where YOU get your football credibility? Not that I needed one more. If he had said they have to stop the pass I could understand, Matt do your homework. I think we may have just found a solution for the Redskins. Step 3:????????????????????????????? Step 4: Superbowl!!!! I must agree with many here Florio, you are on shaky ground questioning the credibility of anyone who actually played and won Superbowls in the NFL.
Funny when you said you zone out when he speaks was almost exactly where I started zoning out on this post. Why such hate for Millen? He failed as a GM. So what? Many media guys are failed athletes. Herm Edwards failed twice as a coach. Are Trent Dilfer and Tim Hasselbeck overflowing with credibility?
And while on the subject of Berman, when did he become Jiminy Glick? The bottom line is Millen was and has already established that he still is one of the best game analysts around. Love the end of the post. All the games mentioned are gonna suck real bad.
But its in primetime! Its not too hard to talk about the game and break it down as the game goes. As long as he makes sense who cares? At least its not Emmitt Smith calling the games, thank god. There are many things you do that make you a douche, Florio, but this one has to take the cake. At least Millen has played and has been in the league in some capacity for decades. That alone gives him more insight than you could possibly ever gain.
He seems to cut people off and has a lot of energy behind what he says, even though what he says is wrong. Good player, bad GM, and bad anouncer. I mute the TV or change the channel when Millen starts talking. The man has zero credibility and not a lot of integrity. Integrity, because he kept cashing the checks and drove his team into the ground rather than do the honorable thing and resign. How can all you people badmouthing florio and this article NOT get it.
He ran a franchise into the ground. And yes, great people have failed. But they usually fail in other areas. Michael Jordan best basketball player ever, not so hot in baseball. Completely different sport, and he made a PRO sports team. You cant do that. Michael Phelps great swimmer, bad actor.
Again different area. Competence at one job has no bearing on the other. He pokes a bit of fun at himself when talking about why such and such QB is great saying he would still be a HC had he been able to choose a QB right. Billick is a very good analyst IMO. Perhaps Millen should joke a bit about his tenure as a GM to show he acknowledges it. I realize that a great number of football fans may indeed be morons—and that the suits who call the shots cater only to them.
First: Dont Taze Me Bro, Herbstreit was a co-captain at Ohio State, broke the record for most completions against Michigan in one game, and was the team MVP in the only full season he was the starter which was his senior year.
